About Cockroach Janta Party

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) is India's viral satirical youth movement — a political parody that became real when millions of disenchanted young Indians decided the joke was on the system. What started as a meme after CJI Surya Kant's cockroach remark has snowballed into one of the fastest-growing political movements on social media.

Founded by Abhijeet Dipke, CJP emerged from a single courtroom moment — when Chief Justice of India Surya Kant compared certain political actors to cockroaches. Abhijeet, then an AAP social media volunteer and Boston University graduate, saw an opportunity to channel youth anger into something productive. The movement went viral overnight.

CJP gained 15M+ Instagram followers in just 4 days, was covered by BBC, Economic Times, Business Today, and India Today, and triggered a nationwide debate on youth representation in Indian politics.

The 5-Point Manifesto

CJP's manifesto centers on five core demands that resonate with India's frustrated youth:

  1. Minimum salary of ₹1 lakh for every Indian — because survival isn't a luxury.
  2. Free electricity up to 500 units — basic utility, not a privilege.
  3. Make education free — from school to university.
  4. ₹25 lakh for every unemployed youth — a startup/education grant.
  5. Refund of demonetization losses — the 2016 shock that broke the informal economy.

The #MainBhiCockroach Movement

#MainBhiCockroach became the unifying hashtag for millions who felt ignored by the establishment. Calling yourself a "cockroach" was an act of defiance — a way to say: "You call me a pest? Fine. I will own it. I will organize. And I will vote."

The hashtag trended nationally on X (Twitter) and Instagram, with celebrities, politicians, and普通 Indians posting cockroach emojis and declaring solidarity. It turned an insult into an identity.
